Transform your skills into effective counseling of your clients, particularly those who are resistant or are affected by multiple negative conditions. Learn how and when to use Gottman methods through videos of real couples in therapy, role plays, and demonstrations. The format is a safe, non-judgmental environment for you to practice and refine your clinical skills.
Pre-requisites:
- master’s degree or doctoral degree OR current enrollment in a graduate program in a mental health-related field,
- therapy experience highly recommended, but not required.
Continuing Education hours included in the registration fee.
GOTTMAN LEVEL 1
UNIQUE FORMAT
AFFORDABLE AND CONVENIENT
This training will be a combination of live webinars via Zoom and video demonstrations of The Gottman Method.
- View the videos at your own pace. The videos feature real couples from the famous Gottman “Love Lab,” as well as videos of Dr. Julie Gottman demonstrating assessment and interventions in a case example from her private practice. You will have lifetime access to the videos.
- Participate in Zoom discussions with Dr. Jack and other attendees. Dr. Jack is one of 25 Master Gottman Trainers worldwide. He will facilitate discussions on research findings, and share his own experience on the assessment process and therapeutic intervention.
- Dr. Jack will host 3 Zoom meeting on each Friday.
- The Zoom meetings will be from 8 – 8:30 am, plus 1 after lunch and 1 in the late afternoon. Times to be determined for the 2 afternoon meetings.
- Morning Zoom meeting: Dr. Jack will introduce the content and video.
- After lunch Zoom meeting: Dr. Jack will highlight and demonstrate key elements. You can seek clarification of the theory, research and practice.
- Late afternoon Zoom meeting: Dr. Jack will review the material and host a Q&A.
- You may join some or all the meetings. Each Zoom meeting is approximately 30 minutes long.
The moderated format was developed by The Gottman Institute due to COVID-19. This low-cost, convenient option may not be available in the future.
YOUR PRESENTER
DR. JOHN “JACK” CROSSEN
Dr. Crossen is the only Gottman Master Trainer in the Portland area, and has an extensive history of direct collaboration with Gottman Institute founders Drs. John and Julie Gottman. In addition to working with couples at workshops, classes and private sessions, Dr. Crossen also trains and certifies other healthcare professionals to become Gottman therapists.
He has 30+ years of experience and numerous partnerships with universities, counseling centers and private practices throughout the northwest region.
